or years\, document review relied on human reviewers to categorize documen
ts for use in all cases. Document reviews were always limited by human rev
iewers\, who possessed different skill levels\, knowledge sets\, were cons
trained by the timing and amount of hours they could provide in a day\, an
d have a tremendous financial cost associated with their hourly output. Ad
ditionally\, responses are a black box\, constrained by the limitations of
human reviewers\, providing at best selections from a limited menu of opt
ions to identify how and why a document should be coded.
\n
The appli
cation of Generative AI changes the way document reviews can be performed.
Human inputs are limited to true experts on a matter\, providing detailed
instructions\, which are expertly followed by machine understanding. Rely
ing on machines to provide the bulk of the work creates new consistency\,
as multiple perspectives are not applied\, but instead the vision of the e
xpert. As the limitations imposed by machine time are significantly less t
han those imposed by human review\, new workflows and timing can be create
d for reviews\, preventing the early start of review of large document set
s to meet tight deadlines. Most importantly\, outputs from Generative AI a
nswers the question why a document is coded the way it is\, giving a great
er confidence to the managing attorneys that the review meets their goals
and provides more information about each document as reasons and specific
information from the document can be identified from the documents without
requiring a human to stop and add that information\, which is an incredib
ly expensive and time consuming endeavor.
\n
The presentation will en
capsulate the evolution of document review and we plan to show is how Gene
rative AI is the true game change that we’ve been waiting for the last gen
eration. We plan to discuss how to use Generative AI to review documents\,
understanding the additional options available as we enter this new techn
ological world and discuss what the completed results look like.
\n
<
