CPPA’s membership averages between 75 to 85 members including paralegals, paralegal educators and students in the Central Pennsylvania region. Since 1984, the mission of CPPA is to promote, protect and advance the paralegal profession and its interests through fostering creative expansion of paralegal roles, at all times operating within the boundaries of the profession; to offer continuing education and scholarships to paralegals as well as education of employers and consumers in the use of paralegals; and to encourage communication between individual paralegals and paralegal associations regarding developments in the profession. CPPA is affiliated with the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA) and supports the promotion of PACE (Paralegal Advanced Competency Exam). CPPA provides information to its members through a monthly newsletter, web site, and job bank, and offers monthly “lunch/learns” to its members and guests. Local attorneys or public officials speak at the “lunch/learns” about their area of expertise. Each October is CPPA’s annual “Take an Attorney to Lunch” program, where a distinguished guest speaker shares his/her knowledge or expertise on a law-related topic.
