The PAP was incorporated in 1973 and is dedicated to the advancement of the paralegal profession. On average, PAP has a total of 300 members. In addition to holding bi-monthly luncheons in which guest speakers from the legal community are invited to speak, PAP offers a network of opportunities for paralegals and students to become involved through the work of its various committees. PAP awards the Joan M. Weldon Scholarship ($1,000) to a paralegal student annually. PAP also sponsors an Annual Education Conference customized to cover complex areas of the law as well as continuing legal education. Included in its membership are practicing paralegals, students, individuals, schools, law firms and other organizations. PAP is a charter member of the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA), through which PAP members are informed of developments within the profession on a national scope.
